Happy Samhain

So as you can see we having being preparing like all good Gaelic people for the celebration of Samhain. The lads all carved pumpkins. Camdyn did his own and the other two got a wee bit of assistance from Momma Bee. The boys loved doing it and Bee's recipe for pumpkin seeds is the best ever. They got devoured pretty quick. Cam is dressing up as the Grim reaper (sans Bill and Teds bogus journey) and Cal is a Jungle power ranger. I will keep the Colin and Bee's costumes under wraps till we post pics of him trick or treatin tomorrow.

On a side note I got to see my Gran yesterday. We sat and looked at photos of her Great grandsons and she told me stories of the older generation. I sure do enjoy spending time with her!

Now remember no open candy or apples should be consumed from tomorrows bounty. Anyone else remember those rules being read in public school?

Off Sides, thats a foul

Footy was a real good match today. We (meaning the greatest team in the SPL: The Celtic) managed to keep a nice 3 pt lead ahead of the Huns (meaning the Rangers) I had planned to listen to the game live and both Cali and I were pumped!

We spent all morning watching youtube clips of the Celtic and I answered the many questions Cali had. He now says he used to be an Italy fan because they kick the ball hard but now he is a Celtic fan because thats the best team in scotland and he is Scottish Canadian. lol too cute. We listened to Celtic supporter songs while I fried up home fires and bacon. Then came time to tune into the game. I bring up BBC sports, connect and alas its only available for UK residents. WHAT IS THIS SHITE??? I just listened to a under 19 match the other day, so they only block the money maker??? I mean its not 1992 anymore , the internet has no boundaries.

Cali stayed excited to listen as I fumbled around the internet trying to find a uk proxy to use. No luck. So he lost interest and resigned back to the living room for Saturday morning cartoons with his brothers while I was stuck watching the live text version of the game. Oh what a way to watch a match , every two minutes it updates you with what has happened. Its bollocks and thanks BBC radio you can kiss my white and green arse.

Bee had popped out to do some shopping early this morning and upon her return it was well into the second half with me glued to the screen. I think the ref. carded someone for dissent and I followed with cursing like any good supporter would. Um yeah we have 3 sets of young ears in the other room it was kindly pointed out. Guess I need to work on my potty mouth, especially with Colin starting to copy what we say. I am usually very good with it but sports get the best of me. (No sly remarks mum, see you found my blog ;-)

We have some lovely weather here in Eastern Ontario today, rain rain and more rain. The fisherman in me is happy since it will raise the river and the salmon will run from the lake on up. I was upset I missed the last run and I will be up at a godforsaken hour tomorrow to hopefully hook into a few. On the downside walking your hundred pound plus dog in the rain really does suck.

Slacker

Guess I have slacked for a few days with no posting. We had a very busy weekend with Bee's sister , mother and brother visiting. Her brother actually showed up on our couch 2 weeks prior. The photo left is what we awoke to one Thursday morning. The boys love their Uncle "Monkey" and he is a really good 18 yr old kid. It was nice having him up here. (getting back on track here) Along with our dog Blue we had the two Chihuahuas here. Full house, but we all managed to have a place to sit and ate really well while they were here. Bee has been super busy with her placement this semester. She is working as an EA at a special school for learning disabilities. It is one of 5 of its kind in Ontario. The funny thing is my father works under the same branch of the provincial school system but had nothing to do with her getting the position. I am super proud of her performance at school and hope she is on the Deans list again this semester.

Along with our busy schedule I have been searching for new employment. I just lucked out on a great position with Best Buy who are opening a brandnew store here in BelleVegas. Its also a new company model and will be a great opportunity to be a part of its success.

We'll I should go as my worklist is a bit longer today due to the hiatus I went on yesterday to watch the Man U. vs. Celtic match. I don't even want to talk about the results as they were very disappointing for us Celtic supporters. I am still trying to figure when we drink more , when we loose or when we win??

One little rant here: Just because Avril is from Napanee does not mean she needs to be on every hour of the radio rotation here. I don't even know why I bother with the radio up here. I miss the days of the edge and the Q. Even the whitehouse of rock is better than this crap.

Early Mornings

We'll the roll call around here has progressivly gotten earlier and earlier. Today Bugg decided that getting up at quarter to 5 was going to be fine by him and expected us to get up too. I think even the dog thought it was too early. Ahh well at least tomorrow his older brother will be here and he will get up with Colin nice and early as they always do. Last time they were here, Colin somehow convinced Cam (who is an early riser) that 4 am would be a goodtime to get up...blah. That was way too early to hear the two of them out in the livingroom playing. When I questioned the older one on the bag of chips he had out at 5 am I got the usual response: "It wasn't me Dad, Colin really wanted some chips"

First and foremost Colin doesn't even eat chips, he's not allowed nor does he have any interest in them but there he was shaking his head backing up his older brother. Thicker than thieves those two I tell ya. Cali on the other hand is a parents dream. He'll sleep till 8 am and still argue he was the first one up. lol.

Alright someone is whining to go out to daycare. Off we go.

Foiled em Again

To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. I just don't understand how this guy and his policies get elected into office again. Yes it is a minority government , so he will need the support of the other parties to get anything passed. Have you ever watched CPAC? All they do is hurl insults back and forth at each other talking about who did what in the past. What about the future folks. You know the future, its what our children will inherit from us?? How can we as a country elect in someone who has no concern for the environment (Hello Alberta tarsands) and only wants to cut taxes by cutting social programs so we have the money from our tax cuts to pay for those services. Its bollocks. One other note that really upset me. Bee and I watched Rick Mercer last night and he was on Jack Layton (leader of the federal NDP) plane. They were serving lobster just as everyone got on and drinking some nice cold keiths. I love lobster and beer as much as the next guy but honestly Jack , do you think that is the best way to spend our taxpayers dollars? How about you and your staff eat some week old bread and can of beans like the poor in Canada do everynight and give the rest of your food budget to a worthy cause. To help those Canadians you say you so badly want to. Disappointed to say the least.

October 14th.

ers

First and foremost. Get out and vote today. You owe it to yourself and to your country. Those that choose not to participate waive their right to complain. I would never do that, lol.

So now here some pictures of Blue, our new family dog. She is a Cane Corso and an awesome rare breed of dog. Listens well and is easily fitting in around here. I just finished sharing the couch with her for a short nap. We introduced her to Waldo , Mom and Dads hyper lab and they get along great barring the fact that Waldo kinda likes Blue in a hetrosexual kinda way... I was so happy the dogs got along. Dinner at Mom and Dads was excellent as per usual and a nice way to end the Thanksgiving Holidays, my only regret is that my brother and sister in law don't live any closer. I miss Drew and our always stimulating conversation over dinner, altho I am sure others don't miss listening to us. I did get the chance to talk to him yesterday. He is recovering from having a hernia repaired and seems to be doing alright. I am sure his woman is taking good care of him and I could hear my only nephew making noises in the background. I am sure the next time I see him he will be a walking, babbling, little man. Did I mention I wished they lived closer, lol.

I can't wait for the poles to close and to be glued to a tv screen for most of the evening. Will we have a new PM??

Off I go to clean up the house.

Riverside Zoo and Thanksgiving in the borough.

What an awesome day we had. The weather for this Thanksgiving weekend couldn't be better. Its like summer out there. No complaints from this family. We headed over to Peterborough to visit the Ball side of the family and have a meal. I love being in East City. Its where my heart will always be. We took Colin to the Riverside Zoo. I have been going there since I was his age and boy they have done alot to it the past few years. I had to get my bearings but they still had my 3 fav. things. The train which is a blast. The Meerkats and the big ole carp that hang around the old monkey house. Colin was a peach to be with even tho he insisted on pushing his stroller everywhere. He enjoyed all the animals but I think the big hill was his favorite. I know it was mine when I was a kid , we used to run up it just to roll right back down. He didn`t get the rolling part down but he sure knows how to climb up it. It was Bees first time being there and I love sharing pieces of my childhood with her. Grandma and Grandpa had a blast too and it was nice to spend some quality time with them.

Afterwards we headed over to Bovas (Southside baby) for dinner. It was great to see all the kids (my cousins that are all the same age as my lads) My only regret is that Cam and Cali weren't there but thats a whole other story and not appropriate for our blog. Dinner was amazing and my Nana and Papa looked like a Million bucks. I love seeing those 2 together. Over 50 years of marriage and the family to show for it. I hope one day I can sit around with Bee and enjoy the family we have created like they do. My grandparents have a very special place in my heart and to see my Nana back with us is such a blessing and a miracle. I can't express how thankful I am. Anyho it was a great evening. We are all tired today but the thanksgiving fun doesn't stop.

Stay tuned for pictures of Blue , our new 4 legged friend.....

Yet another political post

I hate to rant (no really I do lol) but the same man who told us just weeks ago that the economy was in no troubles ( http://watch.ctv.ca/news/election-2008/english-debate/#clip98314) just set up a 25 billion BAIL OUT. (http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2008/10/10/flaherty-banks.html) He can call it what he wants but it is no different than what was just recently done in the U.S.

Imagine that Steven Harper mimicking US policy.. He's no puppet... Seriously I understand fully well what is going on with the economy but why is it alright to spend money that doesn't exists anyways on the banks and not on social programs such as education and health care. I am sick and tired of hearing about the 107,000 jobs created last month. What he fails to mention is that 97,000 of them were part time jobs. Great article here (http://www.marketwire.com/press-release/Canadian-Labour-Congress-908859.html ) Part time jobs for a full time crisis!

end rant

Leaves, trees and Thanksgiving

It seems we must have gotten a wind storm last night from the looks of things on our walk to daycare today. Colin was running thru the fallen leaves and puddles (reminder to Dad to put on his rubber boots next time) I love to watch him discover new things. He loved the colours on the leaves and gave me this one. I only had my phone with me so the camera isn't the greatest but it still showcases the moment. I can't believe Thanksgiving is here. I still think we celebrate the holiday too early here but it does follow the traditional harvest more than the American holiday (theres no way you would be harvesting in November) I am going to make some sweet sweet love to some turkey this weekend. We are also planning on stopping in at the Zoo since we'll be in the Peter Patch for dinner Saturday. Bee and Colin have never been to the Zoo there so it should be fun. They don't have too many animals but they do have Mirror Cats, and to this big kid thats all that matters. I'll be sure to take lots of photos.

Pins and Zucchini bread

Bee made zucchini bread this afternoon and let me tell ya its to die for. I also found the greatest pin when we were out for coffee at the best coffee shop in Belleville The Organic Underground
255 Front Street. Its such a cool shop, they sell organic coffees and have a full grocery section of Organic goods. They also feature alot of local artists and craft makers goods. Bees Slings can be found for sale there too. Anyways this Pin just jumped out at me and I had to have it. Very appropriate for todays earlier post.

Soon cometh the day of decision

So how will you vote ? It is my opinion that this whole election is one big waste of tax payers money. While I do enjoy hearing the NDP and Green Parties speak some truth in the media, I don't think that we will end up with any different result than another minority government. Sadly too many people in this country vote blue because they were born into it, or due to their religious beliefs. As much as I would love to vote for the NDP or Green Parties that would amount to me pissing away my vote. In the lovely surroundings of Quinte and Quinte West there is only two ways to vote , for Harper or for Dion. Dion will be getting my vote and I actually like his ideas on carbon taxes. It works in the EU so why not here. His platform can be seen here http://www.liberal.ca/platform_e.aspx

I have really enjoyed listening to and reading Elizabeth Mays blog. She is a very smart woman and we need more of her kind in the political game. http://www.greenparty.ca/

And lastly don't count Jack out. I think the NDP may raise a few more seats out West and hopefully they take some in Ontario. Beaches has a great candidate so I hope all there vote wise.
http://www.ndp.ca/

Either way I am just asking everyone to make an educated vote this time around. Read the platforms (check out harpers its quite funny how delusional he and his party are) http://www.conservative.ca/

Maybe just maybe my faith in the Canadian political system can be renewed on October the 14th.

The hour

Sean Avery was recently on my favorite news show the Hour. I must admit that I hated Sean Avery like every other NHL fan out there but this interview may have changed my views a bit. Either way its funny to hear a NHL tough guy talk about being into fashion. He disses my team and disses Grapes as well but at least he has an opinion and speaks his mind. If you haven't watched it yet heres the link : http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/videos.html?id=875507134

Now if only Harper would take the bait and go on the show http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/blog/2008/10/harper_bait_08.html

Life with Jonny and a Bee

One thing constant in our lives (other than the madness of running a household with 3 young lads) is our joint love for reading blogs. This blog is so we can also share a little of our world with you (our fellow bloggers) It will be me (Jonny) or the lovely Bee posting here but do stop in from time to time and enjoy a little piece of our world or as Bee calls it , our Beehive.
